Stop Your Eyelash Pulling Now! 7 Simple Tips
Possibly you’ve just begun to pull out your eyelashes. Or it’s possible that you have been doing this for a while now. It’s probable that eyelash pulling isn’t a conscious thing – it’s just one of “those things” that you do without really thinking about it.
Whatever the reason you’re pulling out your eyelashes, the good news is that it’s probably not your fault and that you can quit (or at least reduce) your annoying habit using these simple tips.
1. Notice when you pull at your eyelashes.
There’s a high chance that your attack on your eyelashes is caused by someone or something. When you find yourself getting the urge to pluck your eyebrows, take a second to work out what caused your reaction. Then, on a conscious level, modify what you do when the “trigger” to pull your eyelashes is encountered.
2. Change what you do.
When you begin to notice the times that your hands gravitate towards your eyelashes, you can start to modify your behavior. If you manage to do this every time, well done, you’re superhuman! Don’t worry if you don’t catch yourself every time. Spend a bit of time to catch yourself more often. Think of something else to do – if you don’t, your hands will get bored again. If you’re feeling keen, slip a rubber band around your wrist and flick it every time you get the urge to pull out your eyelashes. Or scratch your ear. Go with what is best for you.
3. Give yourself non-stick eyelashes!
Of course you won’t actually be coating your eyelashes like a non-stick pan. That said, a nice coat of Vaseline will provide the slip you’re looking for. Then when you go to grab a handful of eyelashes, your grip won’t be as firm and will at the very least cut down your eyelash extraction.
4. Occupy your hands in other ways.
There’s a good chance that your hands are just bored. And need something to do! Find something to keep your hands occupied more often.
5. Cut down your boredom.
Think back to when you pull on your eyelashes. Is it when you’re fully occupied? Or, as is more likely, is it when you’re bored? Stave off your boredom and keep yourself occupied more of the time. You’ll likely reduce your eyelash pulling as a result.
6. Chill!
As we get older and wiser, it appears that we also forget how to relax. Take time out to re-learn how to relax. Check out meditating. Or maybe yoga. Or play your favorite CD and allow yourself to get totally engrossed in the music (teenagers pull this trick all the time, even if their choice in music isn’t necessarily relaxing to you or me).
7. Hypnotize yourself.
You can get an inexpensive hypnosis download that will get to the root cause of your eyelash pulling and help you quit your habit simply and easily. Check out a hypnosis for eyelash pulling track here.
