Two very enjoyable and productive workshops on Wild Goose (Dayan) Qigong were given by my teacher Dr. Bingkun Hu during his yearly visit to the United Kingdom in August 2008. He has been coming to the UK every year now for four years and has a great desire that more people in the UK should know about the many health benefits that come from the practice of Wild Goose Qigong.

Wild Goose Qigong is a form of Medical Qigong which means that its sole purpose is to make us healthy and help us to live to a ripe old age. Dr. Bingkun Hu is a disciple of the late Grandmaster Yang Meijun. Yang Meijun was a great example to us all: she performed healing well into her nineties and lived until she was 106 years old.

Basic Principles of Wild Goose Qigong Workshop

The first weekend workshop on the 2nd and 3rd August was an introduction to the basic principles of Wild Goose Qigong and the Tripod and Spiral Wild Goose Qigong form was used to illustrate those principles. This workshop was in Hoylake in the community centre which is on the sea front. It was an ideal location to practise qigong.

Examples of the principles of Wild Goose Qigong are: shifting the body weight for free-flowing movements, using circular and spiral movements and using the wrist and waist coordination to relax.

Wild Goose Qigong Basic Training (Second 64 Movements) Workshop

In the second workshop of four days (8-11 August) Dr. Bingkun Hu taught the Second 64 Movements of the Wild Goose Qigong Basic Training for the first time in the UK. This form is commonly known also as Wild Goose Qigong 2. It follows directly on from the First 64 Movements which Dr. Bingkun Hu has taught twice in the UK so far. This workshop was held in Northern Moor, Manchester.

Many people have heard of and seen the slow-moving form of tai chi chuan which is primarily a martial art but also used for health. However, not many have heard of the many forms of qigong (pronounced chee gung) which look similar but are based upon Chinese Medicine and designed purely to maintain health, to live a long life and to recover from illnesses.

We are fortunate that Dr. Bingkun Hu is regularly visiting the UK since he is one of the few disciples of the late Grandmaster Yang Meijun who are capable of teaching the whole system. He regularly visits with Master Chen Chuan-Gang, the son of Yang Meijun and the present lineage holder.
